Dear friends,
My name is Christopher Palmiotto and I'm a high school student looking to study abroad. In a couple of months I will be leaving for the Netherlands with one of the most respected high school exchange programs called AFS. I would like to go abroad with AFS because I have always wanted to experience life outside of America. This is the only way I know of that I will be able to experience a different culture and lifestyle. If I go I will commit myself to a full year of community service when I come back from the Netherlands. That is a promise to any one that donates to me. If I do not I will repay everybody that has donated to me,my promise. From this experience I wish to gain knowledge of a different lifestyle and learn all the customs of the Dutch people. I would like to be part of their daily life and compare and contrast it to the American lifestyle. I am very excited to go and hope to teach my host family about America. I have always wanted to speak Dutch and learn about a different culture by being part of it. I am writing to you because I still need a lot more money to make my dream come true. My parents cannot afford to send me to the Netherlands on their own and that is why I need help financing my AFS experience. I don't come from a wealthy family and believe it or not I have never even set foot on a plane before. I have been working very hard in raising the money and ended up getting two jobs. I have sent many corporate sponsor letters out and even had a bake sale in my school. I know for a fact that I will not have the money in time. So I am asking all of you if you would make a secure non-tax deductible donation even if it is a small amount just to help me reach my goal.
